It was I who wrote the letter to the Public Forum that Rep. Al Juhnke writes about in the Oct. 26 paper. My letter seemed to bother him just as much when he read it as it did for me to have to write it and lose a night's sleep because I finally had to get out of bed at 1 a.m. to express my feelings and those of others who received the same Republican Party negative reports on Al Juhnke as I did and were angered by them.
I feel I owe Juhnke an apology. I don't feel he deserves the negative publicity that the Republican Party is making against him in the mail they are sending us so close to election time to get us to change our votes. I have to admit they almost convinced me. And I've lost yet another night's sleep because I believed those reports because they were so convincing and seemingly truthful and provable. I feel now it was just another ploy by the Republicans to get us to vote for their candidate.
I have to admit Al Juhnke did call me and I am grateful he did. He took time to explain things I was perplexed and angered about without blaming me for my letter. We both know who is to blame. Juhnke has my deepest respect for the way he is handling these negative reports and has proven he is well qualified to serve as our representative.
I am not either a Republican or Democrat. I'll vote for the person I think will listen to our problems and worries and do something about them. I apologize to Juhnke and from now on any election campaign negative mail I get will be in my garbage pail.
