I believe I have figured out why some of the accidents have been happening at the intersection of Kandiyohi County Road 24 (the golf course road) and Highway 71 North. I travel that intersection four times a day, bringing and picking up my daughter from the high school. I've seen many "almost" accidents, so either people have forgotten, don't know or choose to ignore the difference between a stop sign and a yield sign.
When one car is stopped at the stop sign and the other car is facing them at the yield sign, whether they are going straight or turning, I've seen the stop sign car go straight across without paying attention to the yielding car that's turning left.
Everybody needs to understand that the yielding car has the right of way no matter what. Like I said earlier, I don't believe the car at the stop sign is waiting for the yielding car to turn left and that is causing some of the accidents at this particular intersection.
