WILLMAR - The race to represent District 13B in the Minnesota House of Representatives is underway with the announcement today that Zack Liebl, of Atwater, will be running as a member of the Independence Party.

The job is currently held by Rep. Bruce Vogel, R-Willmar.

Liebl, a 2010 political science graduate of St. John's University, is a 2nd Lieutenant with the Minnesota Army National Guard and is currently in Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo. undergoing officer training.

He said he believes that politics in Minnesota has "failed its citizens" and "failed the political process of talking and negotiating for what is right for the people." Liebl said the current political system in Minnesota is "entirely run by the political caucuses."

Liebl said he is running as a third party candidate because Republicans and Democrats "have a primary focus of political gain, not what is best for all citizens."
