LITCHFIELD -- The Litchfield City Council will interview four finalists for the city's administrator position on Jan. 10 and 11, but isn't releasing the names of the individuals being considered for the job.
The finalists were selected for interviews by a subcommittee of the council, according to Litchfield Mayor Vern Madson. The subcommittee includes Madson and council members Barb Altringer and Steve Black, a new council member who was sworn into office at the Tuesday meeting. The council unanimously approved allowing former council member Pete Kormanik to continue to serve on the subcommittee. He will not be allowed to vote but will serve in an advisory role, Madson said.
Madson said Thursday that the council has been advised by the city attorney that the names of the finalists do not have to be released to the public because only the subcommittee, not the full City Council, is working on the administrator selection and interview process.
The full council may take its next action in the administrator search at the Jan. 16 meeting. The city is searching for an administrator after Bruce Miller retired in October after serving as Litchfield's administrator for nearly 20 years.

- The council approved purchasing the home and lot located at 401 North Austin Street for $32,500. The sale is subject to contingencies on the property's title search and soil sampling.
The council had ordered the owners of the property to remove the uninhabited home from the property by the end of 2006. In turn, the owners offered the house and 150-foot-square lot for the city to purchase. It is located next to the city's garage. The council tabled action on razing the home until the sale is complete, Madson said.
- Madson and council members Barb Altringer and Gary Walz were also sworn into office for their new terms.
