Litchfield man arrested Thursday in Dassel following police pursuit of stolen vehicle

The driver in a police pursuit of a stolen vehicle was identified as 25-year-old Litchfield man. The vehicle was found to be reported stolen from Minneapolis.

DASSEL — A 25-year-old Litchfield man was arrested Thursday afternoon following a police pursuit involving a stolen vehicle, according to Meeker County Sheriff Brian Cruze.

According to Cruze, a Meeker County deputy observed a motorcycle matching the description of one that was reportedly involved in a pursuit earlier in Wright County.

The deputy attempted to stop the motorcycle on U.S. Highway 12 in Dassel. The driver fled, and in the 900 block of Parker Avenue West in Dassel, got off the motorcycle and fled on foot.

The deputy pursued on foot for approximately a quarter-mile before taking the driver into custody.

The motorcycle was found to be stolen out of Minneapolis.

The suspect threw a handgun while being pursued, which was recovered by the deputy. The man was also found in possession of controlled prescription pills not prescribed to him.

He was booked into the Meeker County jail for fleeing, felon in possession of a firearm, receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled substance and reckless driving pending a first appearance in Meeker County District Court.
