LITCHFIELD -- Litchfield volleyball fans will have to wait until Sept. 20 to see their Dragons on the home court.

Due to a change in this season's schedule, Litchfield will play six matches and one tournament on the road before hosting Wright County Conference foe Mound-Westonka at home.

"We would have had one home game, but we dropped St. Cloud Apollo from our schedule and added Marshall, but we couldn't put them on the schedule until the end of the year," said Litchfield coach Darin Swenson.

Litchfield opened the season with a 3-0 loss at Becker Friday and will face Waconia in the conference-opener at Waconia today.

Swenson said this long stretch away from home can be either positive or negative.

"I think they'll have a good chance to find out how tough they'll be," he said. "When we come home, hopefully we'll be able to use the home court better to our advantage.

"It's always nice to be in front of the home crowd, but it's always a challenge to be on the road."

A long-term benefit of this season's schedule is that the 2008 season will have a good number of home matches in the first three weeks.
