WILLMAR — The Willmar Brush Site will be opening its gates for the season starting Saturday, April 2, according to an announcement from the city.
The site, located west of town by the city's wastewater treatment plant on 75th Street/Kandiyohi County Road 116, is for Willmar residents only. There, residents can dispose of their leaves, grass and garden clippings and brush and small branches. Residents may also take finished compost material from the site.
Seasonal hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. The site will be closed on May 30, July 4 and Sept. 5 for holidays, and there will be no make-up days.
No contractors, mechanical dumping, dump trucks or dump trailers are allowed at the brush site; mechanical loading of compost is prohibited. Logs over 18 inches round, lumber, stump grindings or garbage cannot be taken to or left at the brush site. No boxes, plastic bags or plastic of any kind may be left at the site.
Those with questions about brush disposal or compost availability can contact Willmar Public Works at 320-235-4252 .
