One dead after vehicle collision on Minnesota Highway 22 near Litchfield

A 36-year-old man from Stewart was killed in a vehicle crash on Minnesota Highway 22 near Litchfield early Wednesday morning.

LITCHFIELD — Rick Lane Braun, 36, of Stewart, was killed early Wednesday morning in a vehicle crash on Minnesota Highway 22 near 240th Street just south of Litchfield.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Braun was driving a 1998 Subaru Legacy northbound on Highway 22. A 2015 Kenworth semitractor, driven by Matthew Vincent Felegy, 33, of New London, was traveling southbound on the highway. According to the report, the two vehicles collided on the highway.

Felegy was not injured in the crash. Both men were wearing their seat belts and the airbag in the Subaru did deploy. Alcohol was not involved.

The crash, reported at 4:52 a.m. Wednesday, closed the highway for a few hours, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation District 8.

Assisting at the scene were the Meeker County Sheriff's Office and Litchfield Police Department.
