One dead, two injured in two-vehicle crash north of Clarkfield
Jean Margaret Miller, 69, of Clarkfield, died in a fatal two-vehicle crash reported north of Clarkfield Monday morning. Sallianne Ruth Gottschall, 36, of Clarkfield, suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to North Memorial Health Hospital in Robbinsdale. A 6-year-old male juvenile passenger was also injured. The investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
CLARKFIELD — One driver died, and another suffered life-threatening injuries in a two-vehicle crash Monday morning north of Clarkfield.
Jean Margaret Miller, 69, of Clarkfield, died following the crash, according to the Minnesota State Patrol report.
Miller was driving a Dodge Grand Caravan northbound on U.S. Highway 59, and Sallianne Ruth Gottschall, 36, of Clarkfield, was driving a Pontiac Montana eastbound on 280th Avenue when the two vehicles collided in the intersection and rolled into the east ditch on U.S. Highway 59, according to the report.
Gottschall suffered life-threatening injuries, according to the report, and was transported to North Memorial Health Hospital in Robbinsdale.
A 6-year-old male juvenile passenger in the vehicle with Gottschall suffered non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to Avera Granite Falls Health Center for treatment.
Miller was wearing her seat belt, according to the State Patrol report. Gottschall was not wearing her seat belt, and it is unknown if the juvenile passenger was wearing his.
The report says alcohol was not involved.
Road conditions were reported as dry at the time of the crash, reported at 7:21 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28.
The investigation is still ongoing.
The Yellow Medicine County Sheriff's Office, Granite Falls Police Department, Clarkfield Ambulance and Fire, Granite Falls Ambulance and North Memorial Air assisted the Minnesota State Patrol's response.
