West central Minnesota residents woke to a winter wonderland outside Tuesday morning as blue skies and a layer of hoarfrost coated the countryside.

WILLMAR — As the early morning sun spilled over the horizon line, golden hues mixed with patches of dense fog and a landscape buried under a thick coat of heavy hoar frost early Tuesday. The lovely scene captured the essence of a true winter wonderland throughout Kandiyohi County as temperatures hovered in the single digits.

Temperatures will remain mild throughout the work week with highs in the low 20s to the mid-30s during the daytime hours, while lows will range from -1 on Wednesday night to - 6 Friday evening, according to the National Weather Service.
