PHOTOS: Late-week rains give way to sunny weekend

West central Minnesota received quite a bit of rain over Thursday and Friday, but the forecast for the upcoming weekend looks to be bright and sunny.

WILLMAR — It has been a soggy end to the work week in Willmar and the region as much-needed rains have made a splash both Thursday and Friday, drenching west central Minnesota in sporadic showers.

According to the National Weather Service, the Willmar area received .35 inches of rain between Wednesday night and 5 a.m. Friday, with more rain expected to fall steadily throughout the day Friday into the evening.

There is some good news moving toward the weekend for outdoor enthusiasts, however, according to the National Weather Service's forecast. Saturday will see partly sunny skies with a pleasant high of 75, with a mostly clear evening and a low of 56. Sunday is forecast to be sunny with a high of 77 degrees and a clear night with a high of 58 degrees.

So, if you have been cooped up for the past few days due to the rain, this weekend should be the perfect opportunity to get outside and enjoy some late summer weather with cooler temperatures to make any outing a little easier to enjoy.
