Roommate friction brings new laughs to the Barn Theatre stage in 'The Odd Couple'

WILLMAR — Roommate situations are rarely perfect. And when two people approach life in vastly different ways — which shows in their approach to the dishes and general apartment upkeep — melding those lifestyles into one cohesive unit can cause plenty of friction.

The Barn Theatre presents Neil Simon’s “The Odd Couple” at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 22-24 and Sept. 29-Oct. 1, with 2 p.m. matinees on Sept. 25 and Oct. 2.

This classic comedy opens as a group of the guys assemble for cards in divorced Oscar Madison's apartment, played by Anton Switajewski.

And if the mess is any indication, it's no wonder that his wife left him.

Arriving late is Felix Unger, played by Tim Ostby, fastidious, depressed, and none too tense, just separated from his wife.

The clean freak and the slob ultimately decide to room together — with hilarious results — as The Odd Couple is born.

Other cast members are Bill Wright, Jay Ellingson, Matt Onnen, Allen Clark, Ramee Switajewski and Hope Onnen.

Its is directed by Jan Buzzeo, with Pat Gilmore as assistant director.

Melissa Mangen is the stage manager. Costumes are by Pauline Prawl, and Karen Madsen is in charge of props. The set was designed by Steve Gralish, with lighting design by Eric Harp.
