WILLMAR -- Lois A. Smith, 85, of Willmar died Friday at Bethesda Pleasantview in Willmar.
The service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Bethesda Pleasantview Chapel in Willmar. Burial will be at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Her body has been donated to the University of Minnesota Medical School.
Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.

She was born Jan. 3, 1921, in Spring Grove to John and Cora (Tone) Schansberg. She grew up in Spring Grove and graduated from high school in 1939. She attended three years of nurse's training at St. Andrew's Hospital in Minneapolis and then worked at Lutheran Deaconess Hospital in LaCrosse, Wis. She enlisted in the Army Nurse Corps during World War II and served for 29 months in the South Pacific. She returned home and worked at Sister Kenny Institute in Minneapolis.
She married Harold J. Smith in 1948 at the Fort Snelling Chapel. They moved to Willmar. She worked as nursing supervisor at Willmar State Hospital for 30 years, retiring in 1983.
She is survived by her daughters: Barbara (and Alan) Miller of Brooklyn Park, Diana Schansberg (and Steve Bucholz) of Otsego; two grandchildren; and one sister: Ruth Daniels of Rochester Hills, Mich.
She was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
