BELGRADE -- Loren John Robert Eickoff, 85, of Belgrade died Monday at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church in Belgrade. Burial will be in Grace Lutheran West Cemetery in Belgrade.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Johnson Funeral Home in Belgrade and for one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.

He was born May 21, 1922, in Fairmont to Charles and Mary (Harder) Eickhoff. He grew up in Truman, where he attended country grade school in Fraser Township, Martin County.

He married Verna Meyer on May 4, 1943, in Oregon. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war, they lived in Truman. In 1959, they moved to Belgrade where he farmed, managed Belgrade Produce and did shoe repair. In 1976, they moved to Aitkin, where they owned and operated the Big K Campground. In 1979, they returned to Belgrade.

He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of the Belgrade VFW.

He is survived by his wife; nine children: Phyllis (and Duane) Bendorf of Chaska, Deloris (and Kenny) Hamann of Albany, Larry (and Lorraine) Eickhoff of Kandiyohi, Joyce (and Howard) Soine of Belgrade, Velma (and Jim) Gable of Belgrade, Sharon (and Roger) Oeltjenbruns of Belgrade, Karen (and Mark) Kuefler of Belgrade, Carol Eickhoff of Willmar and Dennis (and Rosalyn) Eickhoff of Belgrade; 23 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; four sisters: Viola Range of Fairmont, Leona Thilges of Emmetsburg, Iowa, Florence Westphal of Fairmont and Grace Olson of Park Rapids; and one brother: William (and Marvel) Eickhoff of Ellmor, Ill.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister, son-in-law, Larry, a granddaughter and a great-grandson.
