MINNEAPOLIS -- Louis Spevacek, 79, of Minneapolis, formerly of Olivia, died Wednesday at his home.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia. Burial with military rites will be at the church cemetery.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. and a rosary at 7:15 p.m., at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Olivia and from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. Monday at the funeral home
He was born March 25, 1929, in Winfield Township, rural Olivia, to James and Emma (Svoboda) Spevacek. He attended Olivia schools and then assisted on the family farm.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War where he reached the rank of staff sergeant and was awarded the Bronze Star for valor and the Combat Medical Badge. He returned to Olivia for a short while and then attended Northrop Aviation School in California. He was employed for more than 28 years at Western Airlines as a mechanical technician.

He is survived by two brothers: William Spevacek and Edward Spevacek, both of Olivia.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
