BROOTEN -- Lucille Nelson, 84, of Fergus Falls, formerly of Brooten, died Sunday at Pioneer Retirement Community in Fergus Falls.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Brooten.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
She was born May 27, 1922, in Bangor Township, rural Brooten, to Odin and Blanche (Wendlund) Hanson. She attended grade school at District 31 in rural Brooten and graduated from Brooten High School in 1940.

She married S.C. Nelson on Nov. 15, 1942, in Brooten. They lived in Brooten. They moved to Fergus Falls in 1969, to Alexandria in 1979, and returned to Fergus Falls in 1993. S.C. Nelson died in 1995. She moved to Pioneer Care Center in 2005.
She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and Circle and also reader's club.
She is survived by her children: Douglas (and Virginia) Nelson of Fergus Falls, Deborah (and Mike) Laub of Dellwood, Rebecca (and Mark) Wolters of Woodbury; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister: Ramona (and Dean) Reese of Brooklyn Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband; infant son: Scott; one brother and three sisters.
