BELGRADE -- Luella Susan Lieser, 77, of Belgrade, died Monday her home after a short battle with cancer.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Belgrade. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Johnson Funeral Home in Belgrade, with a V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary service at 5:30, a parish prayer service at 6 p.m., a Christian Mothers rosary at 7:30 p.m., and on Thursday until 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home.

She was born Aug. 8, 1928, in Jordan to Leo and Hilda (Spanier) Stang. The family moved to Spring Hill Township in 1932. They moved to rural Belgrade in 1940. She attended rural grade school and graduated from Belgrade High School in 1946.

She married Clarence Lieser on Sept. 15, 1948. They lived in Belgrade and she worked as a retail clerk at Maher's Department Store for 28 years. She retired in 1988. She also worked with her husband as the caretakers of the Johnson Funeral Home in Belgrade for over 40 years.

She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, where she served on Parish Council, and was active in Christian Mothers and Catholic Aid Association. She was also a member of V.F.W. Auxiliary, Extension Homemakers and Crosiers Apostolates.

She is survived by her husband; son: Michael (and Marcia) Lieser of Fergus Falls; two grandsons; four sisters: Ruth Stalberger of Belgrade, Mary Joan Walz of Anoka, Mary Jane (and Jerry) Joseph of Corcoran and Carol (and Dave) Beberger of Ramsey.

She was preceded in death by one brother.
