LAKE LILLIAN -- Lynn Donald "Smitty" Schmiedeker, 66, of rural Lake Lillian, formerly of Spicer, died Sunday at his home.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer. Burial will be at the Spicer City Cemetery.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements with West Central Cremation Service in Willmar.
He was born Jan. 26, 1940, in Yankton, S.D., to David and Edythe (Attaberry) Schmiedeker. He grew up in the Spicer area and graduated from Atwater High School in 1958. He served in the Army National Guard and was called into action during the Cuban Missle Crisis. He was honorably discharged.

He married Annette Bomsta on Aug. 1, 1959, in Nashua, Iowa. They lived in Kandiyohi County. They helped build and manage Indian Beach Resort and later owned and operated Westwood Resort in Perham. He retired in 2000 and later moved to rural Lake Lillian.
He was a member of the Spicer American Legion Post 545.
He is survived by his wife; children: David (and Kathy) of Spicer, Cheryl (and Earl) Nelson of Spicer; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son: Donald; and one sister.
