WILLMAR -- Mabel S. Johnson, 108, of Willmar died Tuesday at Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar. Burial will be at Cloverleaf Cemetery in Willmar.

Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the nursing home. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.

She was born Nov. 4, 1897, in Fosston to Gulbran and Elsie (Erickson) Myhre. She grew up and graduated from high school in Fosston. She graduated from St. Paul Hospital nurses training in 1920. She worked during the worst flu epidemic in United States history and cared for the nurses who became sick caring for others.

She married Fritz Johnson on Dec. 28, 1935, in Rockford, Ill. They moved to Willmar in 1947. She was a nurse for many years at Rice Memorial Hospital, Christian Nursing Home (now Rice Care Center) and GlenOaks Nursing Home in New London. She retired in 1972. Fritz died in 1981. She moved to Bethesda Heritage Center.

She was a member of First Covenant Church in Willmar and active with the Dorcas Circle and Keenagers. She was a member of the Red Hat Society at Bethesda and was active with the Senior Citizens and an RN Club.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers and three sisters.
