ST. PAUL -- The MACCRAY 18's tennis team finished second at the 32-team USTA State Tournament July 25 at St. Paul Academy.
The team beat Apple Valley 28-18, Hutchinson 28-13, Cambridge 30-9, Virginia 27-14 and St. Paul Urban 22-19. It lost to Sioux Falls 25-24 in the championship.
The team consists of Willmar's Trent and Mitch Fader, Marco Vazquez and Matt Hallstrom; Mitch Kremin, Kelsey Bourne, Ashley Forstrom, Ashley Trulock and Caylee Hagemeyer of MACCRAY.
Each dual consists of five matches: boys singles, girls singles, boys doubles, girls doubles and a mixed doubles. Each team scores a point for each game won during the match.
