CLARA CITY -- MACCRAY senior Tory Brouwer will miss the next 2½ weeks of action after breaking her wrist last Friday at the Old 212 Conference Holiday Tournament in Tracy. She's now in a cast that extends from her elbow to her thumb.
Brouwer, a 5-10 forward, was getting into position to defend a fast break early in the game against Yellow Medicine East when she backed into the wall at the Tracy-Milroy-Balaton High School gymnasium. Using her right wrist as support, Brouwer jammed her wrist into the wall, which resulted in a compression fracture.
Brouwer didn't return to the game and finished with seven points, the only time she's failed to score in double figures this season. She hasn't played in the last two games, but after MACCRAY's home game today against Renville County West, the Wolverines (6-2) don't play again until Jan. 5 when they're at Dawson-Boyd. Brouwer could return Jan. 10 -- the same day that her cast will be removed for a splint -- when MACCRAY plays at Lakeview.
After being MACCRAY's third-leading scorer last year averaging 9.3 ppg, Brouwer is the team's second-leading scorer this year behind senior center Hilary Groothuis (15.9 ppg), averaging 14.0 ppg.
