MADISON -- A 50-year-old Madison woman died Thursday morning in a one-vehicle accident 2 miles west of Madison.
Sandra K. Malecek was driving a 1997 Chrysler Sebring around 6:30 a.m. on state Highway 40 when it left the road and went into a drainage ditch backwards, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. She was ejected from the vehicle, the patrol report said.
She was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the state patrol report. No alcohol was detected in her system, the report said.
The road's condition was dry at the time, according to the report.
The Lac qui Parle County Sheriff's Department assisted at the scene.
