WILLMAR - Carlos Alberto Sandoval Ramirez, the man alleged to have stabbed a Litchfield woman multiple times in August, pleaded not guilty to charges of first- and second-degree attempted murder Monday in Meeker County District Court.
Ramirez, 31, of Litchfield waived an omnibus hearing Monday and is scheduled for jury trial May 13-15.
The criminal complaint alleges that Ramirez stabbed the woman Aug. 8 at her home after he had been fighting with her.
A witness told Litchfield Police that she heard screams, ran to the woman’s bedroom and found Ramirez restraining the woman and stabbing her.
The witness stopped the attack, but not before the woman was seriously injured, according to the complaint.
Police found the woman in the bedroom with several knife wounds on her body. She was transported by ambulance to Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield and later by air to a trauma center.
The woman told police she was afraid she was going to die. She said Ramirez repeatedly told her he was going to kill her.
