OLIVIA - A man was airlifted for injuries he suffered during an alleged stabbing early Saturday in Olivia, and the woman who allegedly stabbed him faces a felony assault charge.
The suspect, Jessica June Ritchie, 38, no address listed, allegedly stabbed a 43-year-old man in the chest around 4:30 a.m. Saturday. She reportedly fled the scene and was apprehended Saturday afternoon by law enforcement.
The man was first treated for his injuries at RC Hospital in Olivia, but was immediately airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital.
Ritchie made her first court appearance Tuesday on a felony charge of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and remained in custody as of Tuesday afternoon at the Renville County Jail, according to the jail’s online roster.
The criminal complaint alleges that the assault stemmed from a dispute between Ritchie and the man.
During an interview with law enforcement, the man’s friend said that he asked the pair to leave his residence in the 500 block of 13th Street South due to what he described as alarming behavior.
The complaint says Ritchie also urged the alleged victim to leave, but he refused to do so. The friend later found Ritchie with a knife in her hand and the alleged victim seated next to her, exclaiming that Ritchie stabbed him.
Searches of Ritchie’s vehicle failed to recover the knife used.
Law enforcement later contacted the man by phone while he was at St. Cloud Hospital. He initially said that an unknown man stabbed him. He then called law enforcement back and reported that Ritchie stabbed him, according to the criminal complaint.
