Man airlifted, two in custody after stabbing at a rural Granite Falls residence

GRANITE FALLS — A 45 year-old man was airlifted to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota after a stabbing at a rural Granite Falls residence on Sunday.

Two individuals are in custody, the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff's Office reported Sunday night.

The Sheriff's Office reported that it received a 911 call at 2:03 p.m. Sunday reporting a stabbing at a residence in the 5400 block of 260th Avenue, Granite Falls. The 45-year-old victim was transported to the Avera Granite Falls Hospital and subsequently flown by helicopter to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. His medical condition was not known on Sunday night, the Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

Two individuals have been taken into custody related to this incident and there is no risk to the public, the sheriff reported. No further information is available at this time as the case is still actively under investigation.

Agencies assisting the Sheriff’s Office were the Granite Falls Police Department, Upper Sioux Community Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol and the Renville County Sheriff’s Office.
