Man allegedly beats best friend to death

VIRGINIA -- An Iron Range man was charged Monday with a brutal beating that left a man described as his "best friend" dead at a residence here last week.

VIRGINIA - An Iron Range man was charged Monday with a brutal beating that left a man described as his “best friend” dead at a residence here last week.
Michael Henry Richard Daufelt, 39, was charged in State District Court with second-degree murder.
Authorities said 59-year-old David Marvin Super was found dead at his residence at about
6:20 p.m. Wednesday.
According to court documents, a witness told police that she saw Daufelt “beat the (expletive) out of” Super, punching him and throwing a baseball at him.
The woman also reported that Daufelt stole Super’s wallet and left the apartment.
Virginia police said Daufelt, when arrested later, admitted that he assaulted Super and left the apartment while Super was lying on the floor bleeding.
