MANDAN, N.D. - A 21-year-old Mandan man, allegedly high on methamphetamine, climbed naked into the holy water font during mass at Spirit of Life Catholic Church on Tuesday, Oct. 9.
Mandan Police were called to the church around 9 a.m. and arrested the man for ingestion of meth, criminal mischief and indecent exposure.
Deputy Chief Lori Flaten said the man reportedly had been at the church earlier with the Book of Mormon trying to bless people and was asked to leave.
He allegedly returned during the service, stripped, entered the fountain and then walked down the aisle masturbating. Flaten said preschool children were present at the service.
Flaten said the church will have to drain, sterilize and re-bless the holy water following the incident.
