Man dies after fall from boat

AITKIN - A 77-year-old Aitkin man died Saturday afternoon while fishing on Farm Island Lake south of Aitkin in northern Minnesota.
The Aitkin County Sheriff’s Officer reported that Kenneth Arnold Pomeroy was a passenger fishing from a boat when a wave hit the boat, causing Pomeroy to go overboard. Pomeroy was wearing a lifejacket, but was reported to have been underwater for 30 to 45 seconds. Resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.
Autopsy results are pending with the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Aitkin is about 35 miles northeast of Brainerd.
