DASSEL -- A 21-year-old man was hospitalized early Wednesday after a head-on crash with a semi truck on U.S. Highway 12 east of Dassel.
The crash happened around 1:40 a.m. Jaden Armondo Ritz, of Minneapolis, had been driving a 2013 Ford Escape west on the highway.
Near 745th Avenue, he crossed the centerline of the highway and struck a semi truck head-on, according to the State Patrol.
Semi driver Charles W. Loos, 63, of Granite City, Illinois, was not injured. Ritz was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis with non-life threatening injures, the State Patrol said.
Road conditions were dry at the time, and both drivers had been wearing seatbelts. The State Patrol was still determining Wednesday morning whether alcohol had been a factor in the crash.
