BEMIDJI, Minn. -- A 35-year-old man was killed in an apparent hit-and-run in northern Minnesota over the weekend.

The Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office received a call at 2:35 p.m. Sunday about a body in a ditch on Lower Rice Lake Road in the south end of the county. A deputy responded and confirmed the report, a release from the sheriff’s office said.

The body was identified as Russell Marvin Auginaush, 35, of Naytahwaush. The Sheriff’s Sffice said it appears Auginaush was walking along Lower Rice Lake Road when he was struck by a vehicle. An autopsy has been scheduled to confirm the cause of death.

A vehicle of interest has been seized, the Sheriff’s Office said, and further testing will be done.
