Man killed in Renville County ATV crash

FRANKLIN - Erik Lee Green, 34, of Franklin died when the ATV he was driving struck a vehicle parked on the shoulder of a road in Franklin in Renville County at 7:33 p.m. on Thursday.

FRANKLIN - Erik Lee Green, 34, of Franklin died when the ATV he was driving struck a vehicle parked on the shoulder of a road in Franklin in Renville County at 7:33 p.m. on Thursday.

The Renville County Sheriff’s Department reported that Green was driving the ATV on County Road 5, just to the south of Fifth Avenue in the City of Franklin. Responding EMS members of the Franklin Ambulance Service, North Memorial Ambulance of Redwood Falls and North Air Care attempted to resuscitate Green. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation indicates that Green was traveling northbound on County Road 5 when it struck the back of a 2014 Dodge Journey.

Green was not wearing any protective safety gear and speed is suspected to be one of the contributing factors in this accident.

The Renville County Sheriff’s Department along with the Franklin Ambulance Service, Franklin Fire Department, North Memorial Ambulance Service, North Memorial Air Care and the Minnesota State Patrol assisted at the scene.

The Renville County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigation this crash.
