ALEXANDRIA -- Mardell Christine Dainsberg, 85, of Alexandria, formerly of Benson, died Tuesday at the Nelson Gables in Alexandria.
The service was held Thursday at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Alexandria. Burial was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Arrangements were by the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
She was born June 18, 1922, in Cokato to Louis and Marie (Nylen) Larson. She graduated from Annandale High School and the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis. She worked as a secretary at General Hospital in Minneapolis.
She married Marshall Dainsberg on Nov. 22, 1947, in Minneapolis. They moved to Delano where they operated Marshall's clothing store. Then they lived in Minneapolis and Benson. In 1999, they moved to Alexandria where they lived at the Galaxy for a number of years. Then she moved to Nelson Gables.

She was a member of the First Evangelical Free Church in Benson and was the organist and pianist for 25 years. She also helped start a neighborhood Bible study in 1972 for all faiths in Benson which is still running. The Dainsbergs were recognized as Minnesota Volunteer Couple of the Year for the Minnesota Mental Health Association. She also served as volunteer at the Willmar State Hospital.
She is survived by her husband; children: Dean of Alexandria, Dan (and Maryanne) of Green Bay, Wis., Don (and Terri) of Eden Prairie, Diane (and Lloyd) Patterson of Cape Coral, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and siblings: Donald (and Audrey) Larson of Knoxville, Tenn., and Aileen (and Carroll) Eklund Lundeen of Eden Prairie.
