LOWRY -- Marianne C. Bennett, 79, of Lowry died Sunday at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church in Lowry. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood, with parish prayers at 7 p.m., and one hour prior to the service at the church.

She was born Jan. 15, 1927, in rural Lowry to Walter and Mary (Popelka) Svec. At age 17, she took over the farm, along with her brothers, after their parents died.
She married Chester "Bud" Bennett in 1954. They lived on the Bennett family farm just north of Lowry. For many years she was a caregiver to Bud.
She served as president of the Lowry Legion Auxiliary for the past seven years and as the president of the Lowry Senior Citizens. She also served as a Eucharistic minister at St. John's Nepomuk Catholic Church and was active in other church activities. She had been a 4-H leader and a member of the Lowry Lions.
She is survived by her children: Paul (and Laurie) Bennett of Fergus Falls, Jim (and Pam) Bennett of Rochester and Bonnie Bennett (and Jeff Halbur) of Mankato; nine grandchildren; and sister: Helen Hammer of Loves Park, Ill.
She is preceded in death by her husband; three brothers; and her daughter-in-law: Charlotte Metzger.
