SHAKOPEE -- Marilyn Alyce Froland, 73, of Shakopee, formerly of Echo and Danube, died April 19 in Shakopee.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Shakopee. Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Sauk Rapids.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at McNearney Funeral Home in Shakopee and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Memorials are preferred to St. Francis Health Care Foundation.

She was born Aug. 30, 1932, in Echo to Hilding and Hannah (Mjelde) Johnson. She grew up in Echo and graduated from Echo High School in 1950. She received a teaching certificate from St. Cloud Teacher's College in 1951. She taught in a one-room school in Watertown, S.D., and then returned to college. She taught at three schools in the Minneapolis area from 1953 to 1964.

She married ArGene Froland on April 10, 1954, in Colorado Springs, Colo. They moved to Renville County in 1964 and she taught at the Danube Public School. She received a master's degree from the University of Minnesota. She taught in Danube until 1977, when they moved to New Prague. She taught in the Jordan Public School system from 1978 to 1996, when she retired.

She was involved in her church and other volunteer organizations.

She is survived by her children: Mark, Paul (and Tammie), all of St. Cloud, Erik of Shakopee, Dean of Minneapolis, Melissa (and John) Donek of Pierz; their father: ArGene Froland of Hastings; three grandchildren; and two sisters: Hazel Radach of Colorado and Janice Atwood of Missourri.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
