WILLMAR -- Marlan Dean McLane, 71, of Willmar, died Wednesday at Rice Memorial Hospital.
The service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Vinje Lutheran Church.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials preferred to Kandiyohi County Humane Society or the Rice Memorial Hospital dialysis program.
He was born April 10, 1937, in Raymond to Arthur and Cora (Wiegmann) McLane. He grew up and attended school in Raymond.
He married Kay Halvorson on March 24, 1956, in Willmar. They lived in Willmar where he owned and operated Marlan McLane Plumbing and Heating for more than 40 years, retiring in 2004, due to his health. He served on the Willmar Volunteer Fire Department for 10 years and served as the dog catcher in Willmar for a number of years. He was an original member of the Freedom Riders, a Wednesday night motorcycle riding group.

He is survived by his wife; son: Steven of Spicer; three grandchildren, sisters: Ardys (and Ed) Milner of Spicer, Sherrill (and Randall) Taatjes of Prior Lake, and LaVonne Kittelson of Willmar.
He was preceded in death his son: Kevin in 1977.
