MILAN -- Marlene Mae Gentile, 57, of Milan died Monday at her home after a battle with cancer.
The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan. Burial will be at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery in Miller, S.D.
Arrangements are with Zniewski Funeral Home-Vaala Chapel in Appleton.
She was born Nov. 5, 1948, in Huron, S.D., to Jack and Irene (Beaner) Fanning. She attended grade school at St. Lawrence Public School and graduated from Mount Mary High School in Yankton, S.D. She attended Mount Marty College in 1967.

She married Jim Gentile on Dec. 2, 1967, at St. Ann's Catholic Church. She received her degree in accounting from Dickinson State University in Dickinson, N.D., in 1990. She worked at Dickinson Redi-Mix, Chuck Wendel & Associates in Valley City, N.D., and Lee & Berner LTD in Montevideo.
She was active in every altar society of the churches where she was a member.
She is survived by her husband; sons: Jim (and Dawn) Gentile of Brookings, S.D., Brett (and Jessica) Gentile of Devils Lake, N.D.; six grandchildren; her mother of St. Lawrence, S.D.; and five brothers: John (and Penny) Fanning of Sioux Falls, S.D., Jerry (and Bobbi) Fanning of St. Lawrence, S.D., Jeff (and Sherry) Fanning of Harrisburg, Ore., Randy (and Teresa) Fanning, and Jay Fanning, all of St. Lawrence, S.D.
She was preceded in death by her father and two brothers.
