LITCHFIELD -- Mary Anne Kieffer, 88, of Litchfield died Monday at Emmanuel Home in Litchfield.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Church of St. Philip in Litchfield. Burial will be a the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Litchfield.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday with a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield and for one hour prior to the service at the church Friday. Memorials are preferred to St. Philip's School and Catholic Church.

She was born Sept. 15, 1918, in Todd County to Frank and Emma (Chakel) Coufal. She grew up and attended school near Olivia.

She married Bernard Kieffer on May 1, 1943, in Olivia. The lived near Olivia, Bird Island and in Stewart before moving to Litchfield in 1953.

She was a member of the Church of St. Philip and the Catholic Aid Association.

She is survived by her children: Kathleen (and Terry) Braaten of Litchfield; Walter Kieffer of Collegeville, Daniel (and Margaret) Kieffer of Litchfield, Veronica Escen of Litchfield and Gregory Kieffer of Dassel; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and three sisters: Barbara Kieffer of Seattle, Wash., Helen (and George) Durken of Litchfield and Rose Wagner of Hutchinson.

She was preceded in death by her husband; twin infant girls; son: Mark and one brother.
