WILLMAR -- Former State Representative Mary Sawatzky announced today that she is seeking the Democrat-Farmer-Labor party endorsement for her former District 17B seat in the Minnesota House.
“I am running for the state House because we can do a better job for west central Minnesota," Sawatzky said.
Sawatzky was first elected to the House in 2012, when she defeated Republican Bruce Vogel. Sawatzky lost to Republican Dave Baker in 2014. He has not yet announced whether he is running in 2016.
If Sawatzky and Baker receive their respective party's endorsement, the 2016 race would be a repeat of the heavily contested 2014 race in District 17B.
