WILLMAR -- Maureen May Holmberg, 66, of Willmar died Monday at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar. Private family burial will be at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.
She was born Feb. 24, 1942, in Edgeley, N.D., to Jack and Mae (Bollinger) Maier. She grew up in Albion Township, Dickey County, N.D., where she attended Albion District 17. She graduated in 1960 from Ellendale High School in Ellendale, N.D.
She married Dennis Ackerson on Aug. 8, 1964, in Ellendale, N.D. Dennis died in 1966. She graduated from the University of North Dakota, Ellendale, in 1965, and graduated from Northern State College, Aberdeen, S.D., in 1968 with a master's degree in business education. She completed her doctorate in 1976 at the University of Minnesota.

She married Bruce Holmberg on June 11, 1976, in Willmar. She taught in Kerkhoven, Benson and later Silverton, Ore. She also taught business at Willmar Area Vocational Technical Institute and Ridgewater College. She retired in 2001 after 35 years of teaching.
She was a member of several professional education associations and also had served as a 4-H leader. She had recently been a member of Calvary Lutheran in Willmar. She volunteered for many church programs such as the Calvary Lutheran Cookbook committee.
She is survived by her second husband; daughters: Taeja (and Andy) Klukas of Maple Grove, and Heidi Holmberg of Shakopee; three grandchildren; siblings: Jackie Maier of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Tom (and Lorelei) Maier of Ellendale, N.D., Karol (and Mark) Reddig of Dunn Center, N.D. and Sherry (and Joe) Maly of Ellendale, N.D.
She was preceded in death by her brother and first husband.
