KANDIYOHI -- Maurice Edward Reller, 87, of Kandiyohi died Monday at his home.

An open house celebration will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Kurt and Deb Reller's Home near Sunburg.

He was born Feb. 13, 1921, in Lake Henry Township, Stearns County, to George and Margaret (Hess) Reller. He grew up in Richmond and graduated from Eden Valley High School. In 1941, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps. In 1942, he became a radio operator for the Merchant Marine.

He married Ruth Streit on June 16, 1946. They lived in New York. In 1949, they moved to the Minneapolis area where he worked for AT&T and also repaired television sets from his home. In 1970, he was hired by Minnesota Microwave. They moved to the Willmar area and lived on Eagle Lake. In 1977, he was hired by West Central Industries to run the high school special education workshop.

He married Lavonne Reller on Aug. 23, 1977. They moved to the Kandiyohi area. He graduated from St. Cloud State University in 1991, at age 70, with a double major in psychology and sociology. He retired from West Central Industries in 1995, at the age of 75.

He is survived by his second wife; six children: Carl Reller of Wellington, New Zealand, Patricia Reller of Olive, N.Y., Maurine Reller of Minnetonka, Janet Reller of Minnetonka, Paul Reller of New London, Kurt (and Deb) Reller of Sunburg; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; step-children: Jane Reller, Maria Reller, Anne Reller, John Reller and Elizabeth Reller, all of Colorado, George Reller of Illinois; two step-grandchildren; siblings: Monica Reller of Fairfield, Calif., Margaret (and Jim) Mulligan of Seal Beach, Calif., and Janet Reller of Los Angeles, Hilarion Reller of Great Falls, Mont., and Eugene Reller of Tucson, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by two sisters.
