GLENWOOD -- Maynard LeRoy Martin, 77, of Glenwood died Sunday at his home.

The service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Glenwood Lutheran Church. Private family burial will be in Glenwood Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood and one hour before the service at the church.

He was born Oct. 30, 1930, in Hancock to John and Grace (Michals) Martin. He grew up on a farm near Herman, attended District 19 School and Glenwood High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1949 and served for almost four years.

He married Theresa Hume on Dec. 1, 1950, in Washington D.C. After he was honorably discharged from the Navy, they moved to Minneapolis where he worked at Superior Plating for more than 27 years. In 1973, he and his children moved to Glenwood.

He was a member of the Glenwood American Legion.

He is survived by three sons: Frank (and Julie) Martin of Coon Rapids, Randy (and Vassilia) Martin of Texas, and Thomas Martin; three daughters: Della (and Bruce) Johnson of Glenwood, Nancy (and Wayne Gilbertson) Larson of Forada, and Angela (and Curt Moen) Swartz of Glenwood; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; special friend of 34 years Margaret Johnson of Minneapolis; and two brothers: James Martin of Mounds View and Richard Martin of Roseville.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter: Vanessa Martin; and one granddaughter.
