WILLMAR -- Maynard Odell Edwardson, 85, of Willmar, died Friday at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
The service will be at 1 p.m. today at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar. Burial will be in Solomon Lake Cemetery, rural Willmar, with military honors by Robert-Ihlang American Legion Post 537 of New London.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.
He was born on Sept. 14, 1921, in Maynard to Andrew and Mabel (Berge) Edwardson. He went to school in various districts as his family moved in the area. In 1940, he studied and worked in woodworking and carpentry with the National Youth Association.

On Aug. 15, 1942, he married Joyce Butler. He served in the United States Army, Field Artillery from 1942 until 1945 when he was honorably discharged.
He returned to the Willmar area and they farmed near Svea, Kerkhoven and Pennock. In 1963, he began working at Willmar State Hospital and Halverson Implement. He retired in 1983. He had been active as a scoutmaster and also with a 4-H Club. In 2001, they moved to WestView Village in Willmar. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church and Willmar Senior Citizens.
He is survived by his wife; daughters: Joyce (and Lary) Heida of Champlin, Margaret Peterson of Plymouth, Jeanne Nelson of Anoka, sons: Mike (and Sue) Edwardson of Hartford, S.D. and John (and Peggy) Edwardson of New London; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sister: Marian (and Ray) Werder of Willmar.
He was preceded in death by his son: Steven Edwardson, in infancy; two brothers; and one sister.
