BURNSVILLE - Ridgewater belted four home runs - two from Zac McCann - Wednesday in its MCCC Southern Division opener, but managed only to split a doubleheader against Dakota County.
Ridgewater (1-1, 15-7) led 7-4 going into the bottom of the seventh inning in the opener, but Dakota County (2-2, 12-10) collected four hits and four earned runs off Ridgewater right-hander Ethan Vogt to win 8-7.
"We were just cruising along with a 7-4 lead," said Ridgewater coach Dwight Kotila of the first game. "Vogt pitched well, but they just found the gaps. It's a tough loss to take."
The Warriors then got a nice pick-me-up from McCann in the second game when the sophomore first baseman from Litchfield launched a three-run homer and a solo home run in Ridgewater's 12-2 win that needed only six innings.
Ridgewater hosts Minnesota West at Bill Taunton Stadium Friday in a doubleheader at 1 p.m.

Game One
Dakota 8, Ridgewater 7
Jacolby Anderson, who went 3-for-4, slugged a two-run homer and Zach Etter doubled in a run in the fourth inning to extend Ridgewater's lead to 5-2.
After Dakota County pulled within one, the Warriors pushed their lead to 7-4 in the seventh when Steve Boldt drove in a run with a groundout and Erik Dahl had an RBI single.

Ridgewater 12, Dakota 2
The Warriors sent 10 men to the plate in a five-run third inning. Rambow hit a three-run homer, A.J. Hadley lined an RBI double and Anderson singled in a run in the frame.
Chris Butala struck out eight and scattered four hits in his complete-game win.
McCann's three-run blast came in the fourth and his solo homer led off the Warriors' sixth inning.
