LITCHFIELD -- An early morning burglary of Thirsty's Tavern in Dassel is under investigation by the Meeker County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were called to the tavern around 6:45 a.m. Tuesday on a burglary report. Forced entry was made into the building and the burglars stole a safe and money from the cash register. Around 10 a.m. the sheriff's office was notified that the Meeker County Highway Department had found a safe in the area of 260th Street in Dassel. A deputy confirmed that it was the safe reported missing from Thirsty's Tavern.
