RENVILLE -- The Renville County West School District is holding a public meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the high school gymnasium in Renville to provide information on a recent architect's report on the district's facilities needs. Along with keeping residents informed, the district is looking for input as a 35-member task force takes on its charge of recommending the best long-term course for the district, according to Superintendent Lance Bagstad.
Architect Mark Lenz, of MLA Architects in St. Paul, recently provided a report to the district that outlined its facilities needs and three options to consider for a K-12 central campus. The options being considered are the following:
- Option A calls for remodeling the 106,930-square-foot high school building in Renville and adding a 45,000-square-foot elementary school as a separate wing. Estimated cost: $10,981,610.
- Option B calls for remodeling 84,718 square feet of existing buildings in Sacred Heart and building an attached 75,000-square-foot high school building. Estimated cost: $15,220,379.
- Option C calls for replacing the facilities in Renville with a new 130,000-square-foot K-12 school building. Estimated cost: $18,484,000.
