WILLMAR -- Douglas Antonio Melgar, 20, of Willmar, was arraigned Tuesday in Kandiyohi County District Court on felony charges of aggravated forgery and forgery and three gross misdemeanor charges for giving a court official the name and birth date of another person.
Unconditional release was set at $20,000 by Judge Michael J. Thompson. Conditional bail was set at $3,000. Melgar is also known as Hector Javier Rivera-Resto.
According to the complaint, Willmar police interviewed Melgar on Aug. 9. During the interview, he admitted that his real name is Douglas Antonio Melgar and that he is from Honduras, the complaint states. He was working under the Rivera-Resto name at Jennie-O Turkey Store. Officials from Jennie-O provided police with several employment documents and identification under that name. Court records also show that Melgar appeared in court under the reportedly false name in January 2005, January 2006 and May 2006 for traffic violations, having no valid license and for driving after revocation.
Melgar's next court appearance is Sept. 17.
