LITCHFIELD -- Melvin LeRoy Finch, 80, of Litchfield, died on Sunday at Emmanuel Home in Litchfield.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Church of St. Philip in Litchfield. Military Honors will be provided by the Admiral Benson VFW Post #2818. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Litchfield.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home and one hour prior to the church service. A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

He was born on Feb. 9, 1925, in Ames, Iowa, to John and Mabel (Johnson) Finch. He received his education at Milford School in Nevada and was enlisted in the Army from Nov. 1944 to Sept. 1946.
On Jan. 25, 1955, he married Della Rezabek in Algona, Iowa. He farmed at Crystal Lake, Bancroft and Woden, Iowa. In 1959, he moved to Hoffman, where he continued farming. He moved to Litchfield in 1969 and did carpentry work until Sept. 2005. He was a member of the Church of St. Philip, and a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion.
He is survived by his wife; children: Emily (and Harold) Hansen of Madison, John (and Jeanne) Finch of Blaine, and Chuck (and Ruthie) Finch of Litchfield; a brother: Johnny Finch of Britt, Iowa; a sister: Ann Finch of Titonka, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters.
