NEW LONDON -- A plaque in honor of Army Pfc. Ryane Clark will be dedicated at 7:45 a.m. Thursday at the New London-Spicer High School flag pole.

According to a news release from Rick McLain, a military veteran who now teaches and coaches at NLS, school staff have commissioned a plaque in honor of Clark, a 2007 NLS graduate who was killed Oct. 4 while serving in Shekhabad, Afghanistan.

Clark, 22, was part of a convoy that was ambushed by small arms fire and rocket-propelled grenades.

The Veterans Day event will dedicate the wall where the plaque will hang as Ryane G. Clark Veterans Memorial Wall. Organizers plan to honor all those veterans of New London-Spicer who have given their lives in defense of freedom by adding their names on succeeding Veterans Days.
