WILLMAR -- Michael J. Gimse, 36, formerly of Willmar, died Wednesday after a 14-year battle with a brain tumor.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Elim Lutheran Church in Robbinsdale.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapel in Robbinsdale and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials will be accepted by the family for St. John's University.

He was born Aug. 5, 1970, in New Ulm to Virgil and Patricia Gimse. The family moved to Willmar, where he grew up, and he graduated from Willmar High School. He graduated from St. John's University.
He married Sarah Hermans on Oct. 9, 1999.
He was a member of the Minneapolis Rowing Club.
He is survived by his wife; daughter: Emma Gimse White; mother and stepfather: Patricia and Dale Morse; and one sister: Michele Gimse Bredeson.
He was preceded in death by his father, maternal grandmother and paternal grandparents.
