Mildred C. 'Peg' Sjoberg

KERKHOVEN -- Mildred Clarice "Peg" Sjoberg, 85, of rural Kerkhoven died Friday at her home.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Kerkhoven Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Evangelical Free Cemetery in rural Kerkhoven.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Kerkhoven and for one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.

She was born March 13, 1921, in Duluth to Bernard and Johanna (Dahl) Lindberg. She grew up in Duluth and graduated there from Denfeld High School in 1939. She attended Duluth Teachers College for a year and continued her education at Abbott Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis. She received her registered nursing degree in 1944 and later received her certificate of psychiatric nursing from the University of Minnesota Rochester State Hospital.
She married Russell Sjoberg on Aug. 11, 1946, in West Duluth. They lived in Duluth and moved to Sharon, Wis., in 1958. They moved in 1963 to the Willmar area where they farmed, and later moved to a farm in Kerkhoven. She was a registered nurse at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar for more than 20 years and retired in 1983. Russell died in 1989.
She was a past member of Jefferson Prairie Lutheran Church in Clinton, Wis., where she was a Sunday School teacher, usher, lector and chairman on ELCW Circle. She was currently a member of Kerkhoven Lutheran Church and was in the quilting group. She was active in the Nurse Cadet Corps, American Red Cross, Minnesota Nurses Association and Rice Hospice. She was also a member of the Sons of Norway in Willmar.
She is survived by her children: Penny Jo (and Glenn) Jeseritz of Kerkhoven, Terry (and Candy) Sjoberg of Leon Valley, Texas, Tom Sjoberg of Wrenshall; daughter-in-law: Cindy Sjoberg of Willmar; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and her siblings: Irene Rasmusen of Denver, Colo., Geraldine Hull of Kerkhoven, Bernard (and June) Lindberg of Duluth, and Elaine (and Gene) Berry of Chandler, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son: Timothy in 2002; one brother; and three sisters.
